ISLAMABAD – In key ambassadorial appointments, a former military officer Lieutenant General (retired) Muhammad Aamer has been appointed as Pakistan’s new ambassador to Qatar.
Aamer replaced Muhemmed Aejaz, who got a new job as ambassador to Belarus. The new ambassador is expected to boost Pak-Qatar ties with decades of experience in the armed forces. He held various roles in the military, including staff, instructional, and command positions.
In a similar development, Mohammad Samiur Rehman Khan has been named Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, while Syed Haider Shah, the Additional Secretary for the United Nations and OIC, will serve as Pakistan’s envoy to the Netherlands.
Tarar, who served as Netherlands envoy, has been moved to Indonesia, where he will take charge as Amir Khurram Rathore, whose tenure ended. Ambassador to Switzerland, Amir Shaukat now moved to Egypt after end of service of Ambassador Sajid Iqbal.
