ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is all set to resume flights to various European destinations this month.
As per the media reports, PIA will resume direct flights to Paris and Milan soon after getting a go-ahead from the European Aviation Safety Agency. PIA will also resume flights to Manchester.
National flag career is also considering resumption of flights to Copenhagen, Oslo, and Amsterdam.
Prior to the EASA ban, PIA offered services to various destinations in the Europe, including Birmingham, Bradford, Barcelona and London.
PIA also wanted to resume flights to New York on getting permission from the United States of America. As many as six Boeing 777 aircraft have been designated for operations to Europe, the UK, and the US.
Last Friday, EASA officially lifted the ban on PIA and other Pakistani airlines which was imposed in 2020 due to licensing and safety concerns.
Defense and Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistani airlines have undergone numerous audits over the years. He said that Pakistani airlines were rated better than many global carriers in the recent audits which showed improved safety standards and operational excellence.
