ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on official visit to Saudi Arabia where he will attend ‘One Water Summit’ to highlight Pakistan’s Water conservation efforts.
In a statement, the premier will depart for Kingdom on Tuesday for a two-day official visit to attend “One Water Summit” scheduled for December 3 and 4.
The summit is a collaborative initiative of Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, to aim to promote global cooperation on water resource management and foster coordinated international approach to address water-related woes.
In her summit, Prime Minister Sharif will deliver keynote address at Roundtable focused on restoration, preservation, and adaptation of freshwater resources and wetlands. PM Sharif will also highlight his government’s efforts in water conservation, climate resilience, water quality improvement, livelihood creation, and biodiversity conservation.
PM Sharif is expected to stress importance of international cooperation in combating effects of climate-induced floods, extreme weather patterns, and heat stress on water resources and ecosystems. He will call for enhanced global collaboration for sustainable water resource management.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Shehbaz is anticipated to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders to discuss various global and regional issues.
