LAHORE – Punjab government on Friday approved procurement of machinery to prevent urban flooding in the province.
The approval was given during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore.
The meeting reviewed measures to tackle urban flooding, river floods, and flash floods. The meeting also directed to clean flood routes under motorways, highways and railway tracks.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the challenges posed by urban flooding and said the sewerage system needs improvement. She stressed need of immediate and effective solutions to alleviate suffering of public.
A day earlier, the CM had approved the plan to outsource solid waste management services in all tehsils of the province.
She gave this approval while presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the Suthra Punjab campaign today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister emphasized that the quality of cleanliness should be uniform in every street.
