KARACHI – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday issued a weather alert, saying that a new westerly waves would cause rain, snowfall and smog across Pakistan.
NDMA said that the new westerly wave would affect the western regions of the country starting today, causing thunderstorms, rain, and snowfall in various areas.
Rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous regions are expected in the western and northern parts of the country.
There is a likelihood of thunderstorms and rain in the Potohar region and its surrounding areas.
Rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in upper areas are also expected in Malakand and Hazara divisions, including northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, mostly dry weather is expected in the plains of Punjab during morning and night hours, although smog and fog are likely to persist.
The local authorities and the public are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
The residents of northern and mountainous areas should exercise caution while traveling on slippery roads.
