KARACHI – The business community of southern port city of Karachi has announced the launch of a new airline in Pakistan as national carrier’s poor service has created more space for new players.
Reports said the upcoming airlines’ name “Air Karachi” has been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) former senior vice president Hanif Gohar told media that an application has been sent to the federal government for the airline’s license.
He stated that, in the first phase, three aircraft will be leased for “Air Karachi”. The CEO position of the new airline will be held by Southern Commander Air Vice Marshal Imran, while Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, and S.M. Tanveer will be shareholders of the airline.
Hanif Gohar further said that Bashir Jan Muhammad, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani will also be shareholders of the upcoming airline.
The new airline is expected to obtain its license in the coming days.
