ISLAMABAD- The situation has started to normalize in the federal capital after the PTI’s protest for release of its Founding Chairman Imran Khan came to an end.

The motorways, which had been closed for four days during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests, have now been reopened for all types of traffic.

The motorway authorities said that the M2 Motorway (Islamabad to Lahore), M1 Motorway (Islamabad to Peshawar), Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, and M3, M4, and M5 motorways have all been made accessible for vehicles.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Memon has directed all assistant commissioners to immediately open blocked routes and ensure cleanliness on all highways.

However, the district administration has not yet permitted the reopening of petrol pumps.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited areas cleared of the protesters,  reviewed the situation and ordered the immediate removal of roadblocks and cleaning of streets.

Mohsin Naqvi expressed gratitude, stating, “We thank Allah Almighty that the conspiracy of unrest has failed miserably. Rangers officers and personnel courageously repelled the protesters. This is a victory for a peaceful Pakistan and its people,”.

Following the Interior Minister’s directives, the work has begun to remove containers from Faizabad Interchange.

In Faisalabad, the city’s entry and exit points have also been reopened for traffic.

The administration had closed petrol pumps in sectors G-6, G-7, F-6 and F-7 the previous day which caused the inconvenience to the residents.
