ISLAMABAD – The shortage of petrol and other petroleum products may hit Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to blockage of roads amid Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest.
The petrol shortage may also hit Lahore.
The Ministry of Petroleum issued an urgent letter to the Punjab Chief Secretary, and asked him for immediate action to address the petroleum shortage in these areas.
The letter emphasized that the Punjab government must take prompt measures to ensure the supply of crude oil from the Attock Oil Refinery.
It further highlighted that both the supply of crude oil to the refinery and the distribution of petroleum products from the facility have been disrupted.
It said that if the issue is not resolved swiftly, a shortage of petroleum products could arise.
The letter also underscored that road closures have halted the supply of petroleum products to Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.
The fuel tankers remain stranded on various highways due to the blockades which exacerbated the situation. The Ministry has urged the development of a comprehensive plan to resolve the issue and ensure the uninterrupted supply of fuel.
