Faisal Zahid Malik congratulates winning teams, pays tribute to organizers of mega cricket event
The recently-concluded Karachi Premier League (KPL) 2024/25 has created great sensation among the youth, particularly the young cricketers not only in Karachi but in the entire country.
Although the final match was played between Malir Dolphins and FB Area Tigers and the Malir Dolphins won the match with a narrow margin (157-155), yet the credit for the successful event goes to all the participating teams, the organizers of the event, Governor and the provincial government of Sindh.
Like the final match all the matches were closely-contested and the cricket fans had a unique opportunity to enjoy each match played during the 14-day event (Nov 3-16, 2024) among the eight participating teams—Malir Dolphins, FB Area Tigers, GulshanStallins, Johar Bears, Liyari Eagles, Clifton Lions, DHA Cougars and North Hawks.
Governor Kamran Khan Tessori who is also Patron-in-Chief of the KPL along with Chairman Moiz Bin Zahid and President, the former test cricketer Younas Khan attended the final match as Chief Guest and presented trophy to the captain of the winning team. He congratulated them on the precious victory and lauded their team spirit.
He also praised the runner-up for fighting till the last hour. Although it is a matter of great honour and pride to be the winner yet what matters is the participation and trying till the last ball, he said while cheering up the losing side.
Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer Faisal Zahid Malik was also chief guest in one of the matches played during the event. Chairman of the KPL Moiz Bin Zahid received him at the venue, New Nazimabad Ground and presented a souvenir on the occasion.
Later, expressing his appreciation of the successful event Mr Faisal Zahid Malik termed it a great effort by the organizers for reviving the cricketing culture in Karachi. The event will be remembered for a long time because of the enthusiastic participation of the people, particularly the youngsters and I must credit Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, Younas Khan and Moiz Bin Zahid for providing the Karachiites a golden opportunity to enjoy the sports, he said. Karachi has always been a breeding ground for talent and the KPL is a mega event that helps create people’s interest in this sport, he said.
It may be mentioned here that in January 2010, the Karachi Premier League (KPL) was founded by Moiz Bin Zahid, a visionary whose passion for cricket extends beyond the boundaries of the game itself. Moiz’s initiative stemmed from a desire to provide a platform for young, emerging cricketers in Karachi who lacked resources or connections to join established clubs or departments. The KPL has so far opened its doors to all the players who have talent, passion and drive to succeed. The guiding principle behind the league is meritocracy teams qualify based on skill and performance rather than background or connections. Like the previous season, the 2024/25 season is also a huge success and with matches played at NayaNazimabad Ground, the tournament turned out to be thrilling action, nail-biting finishes and the emergence of new stars.
