ISLAMABAD – Ambassador of Algeria Brahim Romani called on Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House on Tuesday and discussed matters of mutual interests.
Both the sides talked about enhanced cooperation in different sectors including energy and parliamentary diplomacy.
Brahim Romani suggested activating Pakistan-Algeria Friendship Group in the Parliament. He also urged improving coordination between the Parliaments of two countries.
He said that Algeria wanted to further solidify the existing bilateral relations through enhanced parliamentary and economic cooperation. He appreciated Pakistan’s support for a peaceful resolution of Western Sahara Issue.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stressed the need of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the trade and other socio-economic sectors with focus on energy.
Highlighting Pakistan’s ‘Look Africa’ policy, he acknowledged Algeria as an important state of North Africa, saying Algeria was as an important partner in the implementation of this policy.
He stressed the need to increase people-to-people contacts along with parliamentary cooperation through the Pak-Algeria Friendship Group (PFG).
He expressed concerns over blatant human rights violations in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). He urged the international community to play its due role to end atrocities in Palestine and IIOJK.
