LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 196 illegal commercial buildings and commercialization fee defaulter premises during operations in different parts of Lahore on Tuesday.
LDA Town Planning Wing sealed 27 businesses in Subzazar Housing Scheme, 30 in New Muslim Town and in the surroundings of Canal Bank Road, 35 in Gulberg and New Garden Town, and 104 in Johar Town, Quaid-e-Azam Town and Upper Mall for illegal commercial use.
The sealed premises include Bank Alfalah, United Bank limited, Dar-e-Arqam School, Zicas School System, Ace Institute, Milestone’s Upper Mall Campus, Moon Academy, pharmacy, café, gym, bakers, restaurants, beauty parlors, grocery stores, workshops, private offices and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali supervised the operations, which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police.
As per the LDA officials, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violation of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialization fee defaulters in Lahore.
