ISLAMABAD – The electricity prices across the country including Karachi may increase due to the quarterly adjustment.
There would an additional Rs8.72 billion burden on the electricity consumers if the prices are increased.
The request for this adjustment has been filed for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, which specified the collection of these additional charges from consumers.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the plea on Wednesday (tomorrow).
NEPRA said that Rs8.06 billion has been requested for capacity charges, Rs1.25 billion for operations and maintenance, and Rs1.65 billion for system charges and market operations fees.
The consumers nationwide are currently paying an additional Rs1.74 per unit as part of the quarterly adjustment.
Meanwhile, the collection of the last quarter’s adjustment from the previous fiscal year is still underway and is expected to conclude by the end of this month.
