PM condemns terrorist attack

 

Seven security personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Kalat district of Balochistan province. According to security sources, the attack took place at a security forces’ checkpost in Kalat. Following the assault, a heavy contingent of security forces arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.

Reports indicate that the attack took place at the Shah Mardan checkpost in Kalat, where unknown armed assailants opened fire, resulting in the martyrdom of seven security personnel and injuring 15 others. Initial reports suggest that the bodies of the martyrs and the wounded have been transferred to Quetta.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday condemned a terrorist attack in Kalat, stating that such cowardly acts cannot deter the country’s resolve. In a post on X, premier Shehbaz sent his “heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families”.

He said that immediate action would be taken against the perpetrators of the attack. “Such cowardly acts cannot deter our resolve — together with our nation and security forces, we will eliminate this menace,” the premier said. Further details regarding the Kalat attack are awaited as the authorities are yet to officially release any information regarding the casualties, if any.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack on the checkpost in Kalat, offering tribute to the martyred personnel. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Naqvi emphasised that the martyred personnel had attained the highest honour of martyrdom, and their sacrifices for peace would be remembered forever. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also condemned the terrorist incident in Kalat, expressing sorrow over the loss of precious lives. She extended her condolences to the grieving families and wished a swift recovery to the injured. Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also condemned the attack on the FC checkpost, expressing his deep sorrow over the martyrdom of security personnel. He acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by the forces for the peace of the country, reaffirming that their sacrifices will never be in vain.
