To ensure smooth traffic management and robust security during the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic has proposed the closure of schools around Sharah-e-Faisal and Karsaz from November 19 to 22. In a letter to the Karachi commissioner, the DIG Traffic emphasized that keeping schools open during the high-profile event could disrupt traffic flow and pose challenges to security arrangements.
IDEAS 2024, scheduled to take place at the Karachi Expo Centre, is an internationally recognized event showcasing Pakistan’s defense industry and facilitating global arms trade. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the official partner for the exhibition, is playing a vital role in publicizing the event. Since its launch in 2000, IDEAS has gained global attention, attracting delegates and vendors from various countries who display cutting-edge defense technologies. The proposed school closures aim to minimize congestion in the city and provide a secure environment for the large number of international participants.
