Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s 21-day “Awami Theatre Festival” continued to captivate audiences on its fourth day with the Urdu drama “Heer Raanjha Ki Chaar Kahaniyan,” staged at AC Auditorium II. Written by Waseem Aziz and directed by Wajih Warsi, the play featured a strong ensemble cast, including Farhan Awan, Sapna Ghazal, Shameer Rahi, Izhar Bacha, and several others, who brought the timeless tale to life with a modern twist.
The story follows Heer on a journey to find love, ultimately meeting a contemporary “Ranjha.” After marriage, they face various post-marital challenges, portraying the struggles and resilience of modern women. Blending humor with deeper themes, the play reflects on societal expectations and the nuanced challenges that women face today.
