ISLAMABAD – Top leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been released after brief outside for flocking outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, the party said on Tuesday.

Among those arrested were former ministers Omar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz, and Asad Qaiser, along with other key figures, including Ahmed Bhachar and Sahibzada Hamid Raza. PTI spokesperson said these leaders were taken into custody for attempting to meet with party’s chairman, Imran Khan.

Khan’s party emphasised that leaders were exercising their lawful right to visit Khan, as permitted by the law.

In a statement, PTI condemned arrests, calling it absolutely shameful and warned that such actions signal a troubling disregard for the rule of law. “This should alarm anyone who values basic freedoms,” the party said, urging citizens to recognize the erosion of fundamental rights.

A clip also surfaced online, showing Omar Ayub, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, being escorted by security personnel to a police van outside the jail.

PTI however vowed to continue challenging what it describes as “political victimization” and called for the immediate release of its detained leaders.

This is a developing story, More updates to follow…
