Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather update; smog likely in plains, rains in upper districts

PESHAWAR – More rains are expected in upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday night and Tuesday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), westerly wave prevails over upper parts of Pakistan which will likely persist till tomorrow.

Under these conditions, mainly cloudy weather is expected in most upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday night and Tuesday.

However, rains with snowfall over high mountains are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Battgram and Abbottabad.

Smog/fog will likely persist in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and surroundings.

Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 15-17°C on Tuesday and 13-15°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and cold in hilly areas during the last 24 hours. Smog/fog prevailed in Peshawar and plains of the province. However, scattered rains occurred in upper districts.

Chitral and Malam Jabba remained the coldest places in the province where the mercury dropped to 07°C.

In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 17°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 95 per cent.
