PERTH—Pakistan thrashed Australia by eight wickets in the third ODI to complete a come-from-behind series win at Perth on Sunday.

Chasing a below-par 141-run target for winning the decider, Saim Ayub (42) and Abdullah Shafiq (37) provided a solid foundation with an 84-run opening partnership.

After losing both the openers in a space of one run, Mohammad Rizwan (30) and Babar Azam (28) put on 58 runs together to take Pakistan over the line with eight wickets in hand and 23.5 overs to spare.

Lance Morris took both the wickets. Haris Rauf was named player of the match for his 2/24 and player of the series for 10 wickets.

After being put in to bat first by Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan, Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals and ended up at 140/9 in 31.5 overs. As such, the hosts set a below-par 141-run target for the visitors to clinch the decider and the ODI series.

Sean Abbot was the highest scorer for the hosts with 30 runs followed by opener Mathew Short who made 22. Adam Zampa scored 13 runs and Aaron Hardie contributed with 12. Spencer Johnson remained not out on 12 as no other batter could enter the double figures.

Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi bagged three wickets each, Haris Rauf two and Mohammad Hasnain took one while Cooper Connolly retired hurt at an individual score of seven.

The hosts won the hard-fought opener, while the visitors came back strongly in the second encounter to level the three-match ODI series 1-1.

Pakistan stuck to the winning combination, while the hosts rested five key players including skipper Pat Cummins to field a new-look Playing 11 led by Josh Inglis.
