Sindh Police organized a combined farewell and welcome ceremony at the Central Police Office to honor Major General Azhar Waqas, who has retired as the Director General (DG) of Rangers Sindh, and to welcome Major General Muhammad Shamraiz as the newly appointed DG. The event, attended by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Major General Azhar Waqas, Major General Muhammad Shamraiz, along with senior police and Rangers officers, was marked with warmth and camaraderie. Upon Major General Waqas’s arrival at the Central Police Office, a heartfelt welcome was extended to him.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon presented Major General Azhar Waqas with a shield in recognition of his exceptional service to the Sindh Rangers. Addressing the gathering, IG Sindh Memon expressed his gratitude towards Major General Waqas, highlighting the crucial role he played in maintaining peace and security in the province.

“Under your leadership, Rangers worked side by side with Sindh Police to enhance security, whether in Karachi or in rural areas like the Kacha region,” said Memon, acknowledging the positive impact of their joint operations.

Referring to the leadership transition, Memon extended a warm welcome to Major General Muhammad Shamraiz, wishing him continued success in his new role. “I have always found you to be determined and resilient, and I am confident that you will continue to build on the legacy of cooperation between the police and Rangers,” said IG Sindh. Memon also emphasized that the ongoing collaboration between the Sindh Police and Rangers has been key to their shared successes, such as the recent operation in Shikarpur, where nine criminals were killed and over 30 injured.

He noted that these collective efforts have significantly diminished the influence of criminal elements in the region. “We will continue to fight crime with all our strength and determination. The joint operations between the police and Rangers are crucial for maintaining law and order,” stated Memon. Major General Azhar Waqas thanked the Sindh Police for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his tenure, expressing his appreciation for the farewell ceremony.
