Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, chaired a key meeting to kick-start the city’s plan for the beautification of major roads. The initiative will begin with Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaiden, and Marine Promenade in the first phase, with the goal of improving the city’s infrastructure and providing better civic amenities.

The move is part of a broader government strategy to enhance the overall condition of Karachi’s roads. During the meeting, the Commissioner stressed that all relevant bodies – including the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Cantonment Boards, Solid Waste Management Board, and Town Administrations – must collaborate to execute the beautification work effectively. A detailed briefing was provided on the project, which includes upgrading footpaths, cleaning efforts, parking improvements, better traffic management, and the installation of new streetlights. The central reservation along these roads will be greened to enhance their aesthetic appeal. A 15-day timeline has been set to complete the beautification work.

The meeting, which was attended by various key officials including the Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, and representatives from KMC, KDA, and other departments, concluded with an agreement to work jointly on this initiative. The first phase of this beautification project is expected to bring visible improvements to some of Karachi’s most prominent roads, boosting the city’s appearance and addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges.
