MUMBAI – Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan has announced to quit smoking on his 59th birthday, the local media report.

Shah Rukh Khan made this announcement in a party held for his birthday celebrations.

The actor revealed the news to fans during the event that quickly gained traction online.

“I have good news for everyone: I no longer smoke. I thought that by quitting, I wouldn’t feel breathless, but I still do. Insha Allah, that will get better too,” said Shah Rukh Khan while addressing the fans.

This is for the second time that he has made announcement to quit smoking.

Later, in 2017, he expressed his commitment to quit both smoking and drinking for the sake of his children, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam.

Shah Rukh had previously confessed to smoking up to 100 cigarettes daily. He faced backlash in 2012 for smoking in public during an IPL match.
