Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation , in collaboration with the Sindh Rangers, has launched a crackdown on water theft, demolishing illegal ponds and filling holes used for water pilferage along the Hub Canal.
Four unauthorized reservoirs were destroyed, and illegal connections siphoning water were severed. According to officials, water thieves had been collecting water in these ponds and then selling it at inflated prices across various city areas using tankers.
To prevent further theft, all illegal access routes leading to the Hub Canal have been completely sealed off, as these paths were frequently used by tankers for illicit water collection. This decisive action aims to safeguard the water supply and curb illegal activities that undermine the region’s resources.
