Prisons Deputy Inspector General Hassan Sehto on Monday suspended seven police officials and personnel of the District Jail Malir after a prisoner held in a kidnapping and assault case escaped from the jail. A case was also registered at the Shah Latif Town police station against the seven officers stationed at the jail for negligence and carelessness, leading to their arrests.
The escaped prisoner, Javed, son of Abdul Majid, had been arrested in connection with a kidnapping and assault case. He managed to escape on Sunday afternoon by cutting the window of the bathroom and climbing over the jail wall.
