Climate change

I am writing today to address an issue that affects us all—climate change. This is not just an environmental challenge but a global crisis with far-reaching consequences for our planet, our communities and future generations.

Over the past few decades, the impact of climate change has become increasingly evident. Rising global temperatures, severe weather patterns, melting ice caps and more frequent natural disasters are all clear signs that our environment is undergoing significant change. These shifts threaten ecosystems, biodiversity and the well-being of millions of people worldwide. Communities living in coastal areas face rising sea levels, farmers endure unpredictable growing seasons and cities are increasingly vulnerable to extreme weather events.

But climate change is not just a distant threat. It is here and now, affecting the air we breathe, the water we drink and the resources we depend on. It disproportionately impacts vulnerable communities, particularly those in developing countries that contribute the least to the problem but suffer the most. The good news is that we still have time to act.

By reducing our carbon footprint, investing in renewable energy sources and supporting sustainable practices, we can slow down the effects of climate change. Individuals, businesses and governments must work together to implement policies that promote sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Every small action, from conserving energy to reducing waste, plays a role in this global effort.

Raising awareness is crucial. By educating ourselves and others about the seriousness of climate change and advocating for stronger environmental protections, we can foster a collective responsibility to safeguard our planet. We are at a critical point in history. The choices we make today will determine the health of our planet tomorrow. Let’s take responsibility and work toward a more sustainable, resilient future for all.

Livestock sector

Pakistan’s livestock sector, contributing 61.84% to agricultural GDP and 14% to national GDP, faces alarming challenges. Recent monsoon rains devastated rural areas, spreading viral diseases like rinderpest among livestock. A visit to Larkana’s veterinary hospital exposed shocking inefficiencies. On Oct 8, I found the hospital virtually deserted until 11:30 AM, despite a large staff. The Deputy Director arrived late, at 12 PM, after I called him via phone. Staff members offered flimsy excuses, lacking entry records. A disturbing revelation emerged, as staff sells medicines and vaccines to private stores at low prices, while local farmers face shortage and exorbitant prices. This blatant corruption and mismanagement threaten Pakistan’s economy. Approximately nine million rural families rely on livestock for 35-40% of their income. Unprofessional human resources undermine this critical sector. To revitalize the economy and curb unemployment, the Government must strengthen institutional frameworks among its concerned sector, must enhance disease prevention at urgency and promote transparency and accountability.

We must prioritize our livestock sector, ensuring effective management and resources. The provincial government and higher authorities must intervene to investigate corruption allegations, implement accountability measures, provide training for veterinary staff and ensure timely availability of medicines and vaccines. Our economic future depends on revitalizing our livestock sector.

Transformative power of movies

I am compelled to emphasize the profound impact of watching movies on our lives. Beyond entertainment, films offer invaluable lessons, insights and motivation to propel us toward personal growth and achievement. Movies broaden our perspective and understanding of the world, provide valuable life lessons and experience, inspire us to pursue our passions and goals, foster empathy, compassion and self-awareness offer practical knowledge and skills.

Unfortunately, many movies lack purpose and meaningful content, perpetuating negative influences and harmful messages. I urge filmmakers to create movies that promote positivity, hope and empowerment. Address real-world issues and challenges, inspire personal growth and transformation.
