DUE to its institutional strength, our armed forces have al ways proved to be pivotal organization to effectively and successfully handle disasters/calamities. In the current situation also when the country is faced with what could be called the biggest challenge ever of Coronavirus, Pakistan Army is once again leading efforts to help the people in this difficult hour. Chairing ameeting oftheCorpsCommanders onTuesday,Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa directed all military commanders to step up relief operations across the country to ease difficulties of the people hit by the Coronavirus pandemic. It is really heartening to note that at this point in time all the institutions are working in close harmony and coordination to handle the situation. Forthis purpose,theNationalCommand andOperationCentre (NCOC) has also been established to synergize and articulate the unified national effort. Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and his team really deserve appreciation for providing an all-out support to the government. They are fully assisting the civil administration and utilizing all resources at their disposal to effectively combat Coronavirus outbreak. On Tuesday also, we saw Pakistan Army sending much needed supplies of medical equipment including Personal Protective Equipment to Quetta following doctors and paramedics protested there against the shortage of necessary protection equipment. Like other medics, the hospitals of the armed forces and their health professionals are also playing frontline role in the fight against the pandemic. The entire nation salutes their services for risking their lives to save the life of other people. The fact of the matter is that the nations which show solidarity and unity at such critical times always emerge stronger. One saw its demonstration in China where the people responded to the call and advice of their leadership to become the first nation to surmount the pandemic. The Army Chief very rightly pointed out that every citizen counts as we strive to scale this calamity. Certainly, it is responsibility of all segments of the society to contribute whatever they could do to successfully come out of this challenge.
