Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah engaged with United Arab Emirates Consul General BakheetAteeq Al Remaithi at the Energy Department office. The discussions revolved around potential investments in the energy sector and other mutually beneficial initiatives. Minister Shah emphasized that Sindh is abundant in natural resources, making it an attractive destination for foreign investment, particularly in the energy sector.

He outlined the immense potential of alternative energy sources, citing a 55,000 MW wind corridor, 500 MW of waste-to-energy projects, and 100 MW generated from bagasse. Furthermore, he noted that the province boasts a 130 MW capacity for hydropower generation. Currently, Thar coal contributes 3,000 MW of electricity to the national grid.

“Thar coal reserves are significantly larger than the oil reserves of Saudi Arabia and Iran, being a thousand times more abundant,” Shah stated, highlighting the region’s vast energy potential. Consul General BakheetAteeq Al Remaithi praised the Sindh government’s initiatives in alternative energy and committed to sharing investment opportunities with UAE investors.

He expressed his intention to encourage investments in the Sindh Energy Department’s projects. During the meeting, Minister Shah presented Ajarak, a traditional Sindhi gift, to the esteemed guest. Also present were Secretary Energy Mahfooz Ahmad Qazi, Project Director of Sindh Solar Energy Mahfouz Qazi, and Chairman of District Council Sukkur Syed KamilHaider Shah.
