SMIU VC honors 21 employees with promotions

Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), recently distributed promotion letters to 21 officers and faculty members as part of the university’s Time Scale Policy. This decision was made by SMIU’s Syndicate during its 30th meeting on September 19, 2024. Among those promoted, 19 employees advanced from BPS-17 to BPS-18, one from BPS-16 to BPS-17, and another from BPS-19 to BPS-20.

The list of those promoted from BPS-17 to BPS-18 includes Kamran Obaid, Ghulam Ali Ramejo, Sunil Kumar Langhani, Asif Khan, Imtiaz Hussain Mahessar, Muhammad Kashif, Fayaz Ali Tunio, Ms. Sadaf Jamal, Imran Ali Dehraj, Tariq Aziz, Syeda Ayesha Urooj Naqvi, Mohammad Khalid Zai, Kashif Jan, Shahid Ahmed Mahar, Muhammad Suhail Baloch, Sundas Nisar, Salman Ali, Sadam Khan, and Syed Muhammad Belal Qadri. Najmus Sahar was promoted from BPS-16 to BPS-17, while Anwar Ali advanced from BPS-19 to BPS-20.

The promotion letters were distributed during the university’s annual dinner event, jointly hosted by the teachers’ and officers’ associations. In his address to the attendees, Dr. Sahrai highlighted the importance of professionalism, commitment, and hard work among university staff. He acknowledged that the dedicated efforts of SMIU’s personnel are essential for the university’s ongoing development and progress. “Research is a fundamental indicator of any university’s evolution, and I aspire to see significant advancements in this area at SMIU,” he stated.

Addressing the economic challenges facing public sector universities, Dr. Sahrai noted that it appears these institutions may receive reduced budgets in the near future. He urged university staff to generate resources and minimize expenditures to meet the institution’s needs. Both Asif Hussain Samo, a representative of the teachers, and Abdul Waheed Jatoi, a representative of the officers, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of unity among teachers, officers, and staff for the advancement of SMIU. The event was attended by SMIU deans Dr. Zahid Ali Channar, Dr. Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, and Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto, as well as chairpersons of various academic departments, faculty members, administrative heads, officers, and other employees.
