Acting on the directives of Mayor Karachi Barrister MurtazaWahab, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) launched a major operation in Dawood Goth, Baldia Town, demolishing three illegal water hydrants and shutting down unauthorized water connections. The operation, carried out by the KWSC Security Department, also targeted illegal pits and ponds along the Hub Canal, which were used for water theft. According to a KWSC spokesperson, the water thieves had been collecting water in these pits and selling it at inflated prices through tankers across various parts of the city. The illegal routes that facilitated the theft have now been completely blocked, ensuring no further misuse of the Hub Canal’s water supply. The operation was led by KW&SC’s Chief Security Officer, (R) Colonel AnjumTauqeer, with security personnel including Syed Sajjad Shah, Samar Hashmi, and Faisal Jilani actively participating.

The KW&SC spokesperson stated that, under the mayor’s orders, those involved in water theft would face strict legal consequences. A case has already been filed against the culprits at the relevant police station. The spokesperson stressed that water is the rightful resource of the citizens, and no one will be allowed to steal from their share.
