Whether you are a common man, lawmaker, judge to diplomat, it is mandatory for all to have a passport to travel abroad as they could be denied boarding flights or cross the boarder without the valid passport.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is the competent authority to issue passports to the Pakistan citizens after verifying their documents.
The directorate issues different types of passport depending on the applicant as ordinary people are issued green passport while there are other colours for passports issued to lawmakers and diplomats.
Interesting Facts About Passports
Green Passport
Ordinary Passport with outer green side is issued to all Citizens of Pakistan for travel abroad, subject to completion of all codal formalities.
People can apply for it at any office of the directorate across the country.
Blue Passport
It is an official passport, which issued to Pakistani nationals who are Senators, MNAs, Provincial Ministers, Judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan/High Courts, Officers serving with the Government and proceeding abroad on official assignments etc. in pursuance of Schedule-III of Passport Rules 2021 & SRO No. 1139(1)/2023/Passport Amendment Rules, 2021.

Red Passport
These are called Diplomatic passports, which are issued to the dignitaries of the State, Diplomats and other entitled categories in pursuance of Schedule-IV of Passport Rules 2021 & SRO No. 1139(1)/2023/Passport Amendment Rules, 2021.
Approval of Diplomatic Passports is the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
