ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan is set to announce new Petrol and Diesel Prices today, with rates expected to inch up after multiple respites.

From October 16, 2024 (Wednesday), petrol price is expected to move up by Rs3.50-4 per liter, Diesel by Rs10 per litre, light diesel oil, and Kerosene oil by around Rs8 per litre.

Finance Division will announce new October prices before mid-night today on Tuesday. Besides tweaks in international market, the government considered raisng profit margins for OMCs and fuel pumps by Rs.2.75 per liter.

In first half of October, petrol price remained at Rs247.03 per liter, and it could rise to Rs251 which is an increase of Rs4. Diesel is projected to go up even more, from Rs. 246.29 to Rs. 256.

The expected fuel price is likely to increase the cost of living for many Pakistanis, as transportation and goods prices are expected to rise accordingly.
