Imran Tessori, a well-known leader in the gold and jewellery industry, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Pakistan Gems & Jewellery Traders and Exporters Association (PGJTEA) without contest. Tessori, already a prominent figure in the sector, has expressed his dedication to overcoming the challenges facing the industry and boosting growth, with a key goal of dramatically increasing Pakistan’s jewellery exports.
Currently, Pakistan’s gold jewellery exports stand at *USD 12 million, but Tessori has set an ambitious target to elevate this to **USD 5 billion. He noted that achieving this depends on government cooperation, particularly in making reforms to SRO 760, which would align with exporter needs. A proposal outlining these necessary changes has already been submitted, though progress with the relevant ministry has been slow.

Tessori also serves as an advisor to the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) on Government Affairs, Trade, and Foreign Investment. His involvement in the business community is longstanding, having previously contested FPCCI elections for Vice President.
