ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought report from the Ministry of Defence on a petition seeking recovery of missing Advocate Intizar Hussain Panjotha, the focal person of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“Why it is happening, IG sahib,” asked IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq while addressing the Islamabad police chief who was present there in the court.

The lawyer, who was representing Intizar Hussain Panjotha, told the court that Intizar Panjotha was in F-6 last time after which there was no information on his whereabouts.

The CJ asked about the specifics of the last location.

The IGP Islamabad informed the court that a Special Investigation Team has been formed, led by the SSP of Investigation. He mentioned that they have utilized digital surveillance and Safe City cameras, which captured Panjoth’s vehicle at F-6 and Ayub Chowk.

It was also said that he had traveled to Faizabad with Advocate Mirza Asif.

The IGP stated that a mobile number linked to WhatsApp had surfaced, and they are obtaining the WhatsApp location from the Intelligence Bureau.

Currently, they have no further information, but the last sighting of the vehicle was at Ayub Chowk, while Advocate Mirza Asif indicated that Panjoth was last seen at Faizabad. They have shared the vehicle and mobile number with other IGs.

The Chief Justice questioned why this situation was occurring and requested to be informed about it. He stated that he would summon the relevant officer and was scheduling the case for tomorrow after obtaining the report.

The lawyer expressed hope that the IGP would bring Intizar Panjoth to court, to which the Chief Justice remarked that if the IGP had any such “stick”, he would have done so.

The court adjourned the hearing until Friday (tomorrow).
