Karachi witnessed a staggering rise in street crimes during September, with a total of 5,832 incidents reported, according to a recent report by the Citizens Police Liaison Committee. The statistics reveal a concerning trend, highlighting that 190 vehicles were either stolen or snatched at gunpoint in various areas of the city. In addition, 3,982 motorcycles were reported stolen or taken from citizens under duress.
The armed robbers have also targeted the public, leading to the loss of 1,651 mobile phones during the month. Furthermore, the report documented two incidents of kidnapping for ransom, five cases of extortion, and 36 homicides in Karachi throughout September.
This alarming increase in street crimes has raised concerns among residents and law enforcement, prompting calls for enhanced security measures to protect citizens from such violent acts.
