ISLAMABAD — Situation remains tense in twin cities on Friday Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters are pushing toward D-Chowk while authorities completely seal off the capital.

Multiple checkpoints have been established at all entry and exit points, while containers have been used to block major arteries to block supporters of Imran Khan.

On Friday noon, convoys led by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur are advancing towards D-Chowk by removing multiple barriers. However, clashes have been reported, with police resorting to shelling at Burhan Interchange, and numerous PTI workers have been arrested for violating Section 144.

As the PTI convoy reached Chhachh in Attock district, workers waited for Gandapur’s arrival. In a show of support, PTI women are heading to D-Chowk, carrying party flags, though several have reportedly been taken into custody.

PTI Islamabad Protest

Experts said the scale of road closures in Islamabad is unprecedented, with major routes blocked, including those from Rawalpindi. Red Zone is completely sealed off, and all educational institutions, mobile services, and metro services have been suspended. The administration has advised citizens to avoid any illegal activities, warning of strict legal actions.

Islamabad police also started massive crackdown, detaining over 400 individuals, and enhanced security measures are in place, with the approval to deploy military forces for the protest.

In Punjab, Section 144 has been imposed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha, prohibiting public gatherings and allowing law enforcement to take action against violators.

As the situation evolves, tensions remain high, and authorities are on alert for any developments. More updates will follow as the story unfolds.
