Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily suspended its flight operations to Turkiye, citing unresolved payment issues related to inventory and airport slots, according to sources.
The suspension, which took effect on Wednesday, will last until October 13. PIA operates four weekly flights from Islamabad and Lahore to Turkiye. In a separate move earlier in the day, PIA also halted flights that pass through Iranian airspace following missile strikes by Iran on Israel.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed that flight schedules are being revised, and Iranian airspace will not be used until the situation stabilizes. PIA relies on two key air corridors over Iran—the Northern Corridor for flights to Canada and Turkiye, and the Southern Corridor for routes to the UAE, Bahrain, Doha, and Saudi Arabia.
In light of the escalating conflict, Israel and Jordan have also closed their airspace to civilian flights, and several international airlines have suspended their services to Israel and Lebanon due to growing safety concerns.
