Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz NaeemurRehman called for a million march to show solidarity with the Palestinians.Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he urged the Pakistani nation to stand in support of Muslims of Gaza on October 7, 2024, at 12 noon. “We may not be able to fight for Gaza, but we can send a strong message by taking to the streets,” he said.He stated that the marches would be held on October 6 and 7, respectively. In addition to these, solidarity rallies will take place in Chitral on Wednesday and in Faisalabad on Friday.HafizNaeemurRehman condemned the silence of Muslim world leaders in the face of Israeli atrocities, urging the people of Pakistan to participate in solidarity activities to awaken the conscience of the silent rulers against the Israeli genocide in Gaza. He further announced that the JI would reach out to both opposition and ruling parties to jointly observe these events and send a unified message of support to the people of Palestine.

Additionally, he stated that the JI would collaborate with global Islamic movements to make October 7 an international day of solidarity.Expressing regret over the internal divisions among the Supreme Court judges, Rehman labeled it a bad omen for the entire country. He also criticized the government’s proposed constitutional amendment, arguing that since the government came to power through rigging, it lacks the credibility to introduce changes to the constitution.

He called on all opposition parties to fully reject the amendment, asserting that both the government and the military establishment aim to control the judiciary. He urged the Chief Justice to publicly announce that he would not seek an extension under any circumstances, regardless of whether the amendment is passed or rejected. According to Rehman, this step would help resolve the prevailing crisis, and he suggested that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah should be appointed as the new Chief Justice with full powers.

The JI Emir pointed out that the 45-day deadline for the government’s agreement expired on September 23, yet the authorities have failed to provide any relief to the public. He announced that the JI would resume the “Haq Do AwamKo” movement with full force after October 7, and he would outline the next course of action accordingly. He emphasized that a peaceful mass movement is essential for the strengthening of democracy and affirmed that the JI is actively working toward this goal.
