ISLAMABAD: The counsel representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan raised objection on formation of a new bench of the Supreme Court for hearing of the petitions regarding Article 63-A.
As the lawyer raised objection Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa remarked that the PTI would be heard later.
A SC five-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Mandokhel, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel.
Following Justice Muneeb Akhtar’s refusal to participate, a judges’ committee formed a new bench, substituting Justice Muneeb with Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan.
Barrister Ali Zafar, representing PTI, expressed his concerns about the reconstitution of the bench. The Chief Justice reiterated that they would hear him later and requested that he take his seat.
Zafar voiced his objections to the bench’s formation again.
In his remarks, the Chief Justice emphasized the importance of maintaining order in the proceedings and mentioned that he had a case file at hand, in which he had proposed the name of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
He said, “Everyone is aware of the developments in the Supreme Court; there is no secrecy involved. Now that the larger bench is complete, we should commence with the proceedings,”.
