Governor Sindh Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori visited the Liaquatabad Furniture Market, where he received a warm welcome from the market president, Mohammad OwaisFarooqi, and the public, who showered him with flower petals. During the visit, market vendors raised their concerns, and the Governor assured them that their issues would be addressed. Speaking to the media after his visit, Governor Tessori highlighted the promising growth of the Pakistani furniture industry in recent years.

He noted that the Liaquatabad Furniture Market contributes significantly to the economy, with the country exporting nearly $39 million worth of furniture in the fiscal year 2021. He pointed out that the United States is the largest market for Pakistani furniture, accounting for approximately 39% of total exports, while countries in the Middle East, such as Qatar and the UAE, also show a high demand for Pakistani products.

Addressing the challenges faced by the business community, including parking issues and electricity load shedding, the Governor directed the Deputy Commissioner Central to resolve parking problems immediately. He emphasized the need to stabilize the economy and create employment opportunities, stating, “We have everything: resources and talent.”

Governor Tessori also acknowledged the security provided by the Pakistan Armed Forces, saying that enemies do not want to see the country stable.

He encouraged the youth, particularly in the Balochistan region, to continue working hard, assuring them that their efforts would yield results. He expressed optimism about Pakistan’s potential to establish itself in the IT field, announcing plans for the province and city to soon be recognized as an IT hub.

In a positive update, the Governor revealed that issues related to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are on the verge of resolution, which will lead to a reduction in electricity unit costs. He reiterated the ownership of the city and province by its citizens, stating, “The Governor’s House belongs to you all; you can come here anytime to discuss your problems.” Governor Sindh announced a special quota for IT classes specifically for the youth of Liaquatabad, reinforcing his commitment to empowering the next generation through education and training opportunities.
