In a key development during the hearing of the Karsaz accident case at the Sindh High Court, the bail request of the accused, Natasha, was approved. The court directed her to submit a bond of Rs 1 million. Natasha’s lawyer, Farooq H. Naik, informed the court that bail had already been granted in one of the FIRs, and a settlement had been reached between the parties in the main FIR. The government lawyer argued that Natasha was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
However, Farooq H. Naik raised concerns about the medical report, stating that while methamphetamine was not found in her blood, it was present in her urine. The court questioned the government lawyer about the quantity of the substance found in the urine. In response, the lawyer said the report did not specify the exact amount. Farooq H. Naik further noted that Natasha had been undergoing psychiatric treatment for years and suggested the possibility that medication could have influenced the findings in the medical report. Justice K.K. Agha highlighted the importance of the settlement, remarking, “It is also noteworthy that the victims of this case have settled with the accused.” The court also acknowledged that Natasha is the mother of three children and has been in jail for the past one and a half months. The police had filed a case against Natasha for drug use and driving under the influence. The trial court had previously rejected her bail request, though she had already been granted bail in the main case.
