Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori stated thatthe country has been in turmoil, both economically and socially,primarily due to the widening gap between words and actions.He remarked that many politicians have become political actors, staginga continuous drama for the past 77 years. They change stages, politicalparties, faces, and narratives, yet no one seems willing to change thecountry’s condition.He expressed these views during his address at a Milad gatheringorganized by the Chamdia Brothers in DHA, Karachi, last night.
Upon thearrival of Governor Sindh and other guests, they were warmly welcomed byAmjadChamdia, AfzalChamdia, and Salman Chamdia. The annual Milad wasalso addressed by the founder and chairman of Saylani WelfareInternational Trust, Maulana Bashir FarooqQadri, and Maulana Haji AbdulHabibAttari. Meanwhile, KhawarNaqshbandi and ZohaibAshrafi paidtribute through Naats.
The gathering was attended by Saylani CEO Madani Bashir Farooq, formerFederal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, MirzaIkhtiarBaig, socialfigure Mahmood Ahmed Khan, and other notable personalities and womenfrom the city.Governor Tessori lamented that the country has been pawned off to theIMF. He congratulated the Chamdia Brothers on organizing such alarge-scale annual Milad and urged attendees to reflect on the fact thatwhile we hear religious teachings, we fail to act upon them. Referringto the privatization of PIA, he commented that people are celebrating itas if it were a wedding ceremony. National assets have been wasted ormortgaged one by one. The economy shows no signs of recovery, the dollarhas skyrocketed, and we are left begging before the world, yet thenation remains silent.
He further added that, in his opinion, staying silent in the face ofwrongdoing is a grave sin. The public must raise their voice, but itshould be a constructive voice that seeks reform, not just criticism. Heemphasized that Allah does not change the condition of a people untilthey change themselves. Expressing concern over Karachi’s 20-yearstruggle with load shedding, Tessori noted that while patients are dyingin hospitals and traffic jams caused by power outages, those withgenerators sit comfortably, as it’s not their problem.
The elite mustbegin to see the public’s problems as their own.He also highlighted the irony that despite Karachi being a coastal city,there is no drinking water available. Tessori reiterated thatpoliticians have been playing the role of political actors for the last77 years, changing stages, parties, faces, and narratives, but none areready to change the country’s state. He called on the public to raisetheir voices for truth and justice, stating that if we speak out forothers, our own problems will also be solved.
The public must join thisvoice and support those like Bashir Farooqi, who are doing the workgovernments should be doing.Tessori also remarked that those responsible for fixing the country havefailed, and now it’s up to the public to step forward. He called on thepeople to strengthen Maulana Bashir Farooqi’s hands, as he has beenworking on paying off the country’s debt. He urged the attendees toquestion the rulers, think beyond sectarianism and ethnicity, and avoidenvy and hatred.
The country is stagnating while people are caught up inpolitics and sectarianism.Addressing the businessmen in the gathering, Maulana Haji Abdul HabibAttari encouraged them to adopt honesty in their trade, act upon theteachings of Islam, and follow the Sunnah of the Prophet. Maulana BashirFarooqQadri concluded the event with prayers, emphasizing the need tospread good deeds. He highlighted that Saylani Welfare is continuouslysupporting the poor in 63 different sectors of life, and for this, itrequires ongoing support from philanthropists.
