Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed at the age of 64 in an Israeli airstrike in Labanese capital Beirut. The 64-year-old was amog prominent figure in the Middle East, and he remained in hiding for years due to assassination fears.

The armed group chief played key role in strengthening Hezbollah, as he was behind thousands of trained fighters from Hamas and securing Iranian missiles.

If you look back, Nasrallah was born in Bourj Hammoud, in a Shia family. He completed his education and joined Amal Movement before startting religious studies at a seminary. His formative years included a brief period of study in Iraq, where he was mentored by the influential Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr.

The group gained significant popularity following Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000, which many credited to Hezbollah’s resistance efforts.
