Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather update; more rains, isolated hailstorms predicted

ISLAMABAD – More rains with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday night and Saturday with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper and central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave prevails over upper and central parts of the country.

Under the influence of these weather systems, more rains with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are predicted in the twin cities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday night.

On Saturday, more rains with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are predicted in the twin cities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast/central Punjab, ُPotohar region, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Heavy rains may increase flow in local nullas/streams in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Nowshera, Swabi, and northeast Punjab.

Downpours cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Sialkot. Landslides may disrupt traffic in the vulnerable points of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in the twin cities, Pothohar Region, northeast Punjab and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Nawabshah and Dadu remained the hottest places in Pakistan where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Maximum temperature in Padidan, Sakrand, Mohenjo-Daro, Khairpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Sukkur was recorded at 42°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 32°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 75 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 31°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 48 per cent.
