ISLAMABAD – Islamabad High Court stopped Shahid Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University SZABMU from releasing Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT 2024 results.
The ruling comes as Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for the 2024-25 academic year was marred by mismanagement, out-of-question paper, paper leak and other controversies.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of IHC directed the varsity not to release MDCAT 2024 results until further notice, citing concerns raised by students.
The court now scheduled hearing for September 26, during which the Ministry of Health and other relevant parties will be addressed. In the order, it was noted that the university has yet to release the results, and the Additional Attorney General was instructed to inform the institution about the stay order immediately.
Aspiring doctors voiced their grievances in court, claiming that the exam was significantly more difficult than those in other provinces, leading to disparities in scores.
Tensions escalated when parents of students approached the university administration to address these concerns. Reports indicate that the Vice-Chancellor left the premises through a back door, and police were called to manage the situation, prompting further frustration among the students and their families.
In light of these issues, students are now demanding a retake of the MD CAT exam, seeking a fair opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
