Establishment Division has suspended several Grade-20 and Grade-18 police officers linked to the recent Umarkot incident, as confirmed in a letter to the Chief Secretary of Sindh. Among those suspended is Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mirpur Khas, Javed Jiskani, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mirpur Khas, Asad Chaudhary. The letter from the Establishment Division also requests a charge sheet against the suspended officers.
It states, “The draft of charges and statements should be sent to the Establishment Division.” This development follows an earlier directive from Sindh Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon, who ordered an investigation into the incident. The Umarkot case centers around the alleged police encounter that resulted in the death of Dr. Shahnawaz Kumbhar, who was accused of blasphemy.
