LAHORE –  A writ petition has been moved to the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking directives for the police to set the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Former Punjab Assembly Member Zainab Umair filed the petition through Advocate Azhar Siddique and submitted that the detention orders of the PTI workers were against the law.

She said that the PTI workers and leaders are being detained across the province.

The petitioner asked the court to immediately nullify the detention orders and direct the release of all detained individuals.

The PTI leaders and workers have been detained at a moment when the party is holding a much-awaited power show in Lahore after a long gap of one and half year. The PTI leaders including KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur is expected to take part in the rally.

Earlier, the local administration allowed PTI to hold rally at Animal Market located at Kahna road instead of Minar-e-Pakistan. The reports suggested that the main gates of Greater Iqbal Park—known as Minar-e-Pakistan—were locked and the people were barred from entering the park.
