Miscreants gun down cop and a Polio worker in Salarzai tehsil

High tension gripped the Bajaur tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where thousands of residents as well as the Policemen thronged to street to resent the attack on a Polio team and subsequent killing of a cop and a Polio vaccinator.
Police in Bajaur have also announced a strike while a large number of armed people and cops are observing sit-in against the deteriorating law and order in the region “despite presence of the security forces”.
Earlier in the day unknown attackers ambushed a Polio team in Salarzai tehsil of the Bajaur tribal district as the indiscriminate firing led to the killing of a Polio worker and a policeman assigned to provide security to the Polio team dispensing drops to the children on third day of the fresh Polio eradication campaign.
While the assassins managed to make good their escape after committing the crime, the law enforcers shifted the dead bodies to the hospital where their postmortem was conducted. The Security force also kicked off search operation in the area yet as usual the miscreants remained at large.
Following the incident a large number of locals as well as the cops came to the roads to condemn the brutal killings and absence of lawlessness in the area. They said despite the presence of the Security forces the situation was getting worse.
They also demanded withdrawal of the security forces from the region saying they would take care of themselves more effectively.
Similar reports were received from Bannu district where the locals and cops are demanding assigning powers to the local Police forces instead of Security forces. The Bannu Police have also announced strike while the LakkiMarwat Police have blocked all the routes till the time parleys are not held with the forces and their demands met.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal KarimKundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have expressed deep sense of shock over attack on Polio teams and martyrdom of a Policeman and Polio vaccinator. Condemning the incident in strong words they sympathized with bereaved families.
