Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has called for extensive preparations for the upcoming EidMilad-un-Nabi celebrations, ensuring that the event is observed with traditional respect and reverence on September 17. Chairing a joint meeting of religious leaders and government officials, Shah directed that all government buildings be illuminated in honor of the occasion. He instructed both the administration and police to coordinate with religious scholars (ulemas) to organize the celebrations smoothly.
“Work closely with the ulemas to ensure all arrangements are in place for a peaceful and joyful EidMilad-un-Nabi,” the chief minister emphasized. Provincial ministers SharjeelMemon, Nasir Shah, Saeed Ghani, Zia Lanjar, and Riaz Shah Shirazi were present at the meeting, alongside top officials such as Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Home Secretary Iqbal Memon, and Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi. Religious leaders, including Haji HanifTayyab, AllamaKokabNoorani, and MaulanaYakoobTurabi, also attended. The ulemas raised concerns about road repairs, drainage, and the need for continuous power supply during the celebrations.
They stressed the importance of effective security as well. Acknowledging the issues, CM Shah admitted that recent heavy rains had damaged roads, making emergency repairs difficult, but he assured the ulemasthat a comprehensive overhaul of the affected infrastructure was underway. Shah further instructed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and K-Electric to guarantee uninterrupted water and electricity services for mosques during the festivities. He also ordered Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi and Additional Inspector General JavedOdho to provide stringent security measures, ensuring coordination with religious leaders regarding the timings and routes of the processions.
