KARACHI – A female polio worker has been sexually assaulted from Jacobabad, kidnapped and reportedly sexually assaulted by two armed men.
The shocking incident occurred in village of Detha, which falls under Mola Dad police station’s jurisdiction. Local administration reported that police, who accompanied him to scene, successfully rescued the woman.
The victim was shifted to Jaccobabad Institute of Medical Sciences (JIMS) under tight security for a medical examination to confirm if she was sexually assaulted.
The polio workers told media that the assailants deceived her under the guise of needing polio work and then attacked her at gunpoint.
After the report, Lahore suspects have been identified and are expected to be nabbed as police started conducting raids.
In Pakistan, the week-long nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign started, targeting children up to 5-years old. Around 2.8lac polio workers are visiting homes to administer the vaccine.
