Punjab govt to provide Free Metro Bus Travel in Lahore, other Punjab cities

LAHORE – Punjab government is set to provide free travel on key public transport routes for senior citizens, students, and people with disabilities in key cities including Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.

The provincial government is considering to offer free travel services for senior citizens, students, and people with disabilities on the Orange Line, Metro, and Speedo buses. The transport department, along with the Mass Transit Authority, is awaiting the final go-ahead.

These free transport services will be available in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, covering Metro Bus and Orange Line Train routes. A proposal detailing this welfare program has been submitted to Cabinet Committee on Finance, and final approval is expected during a meeting chaired by Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb.

Once approved, this initiative will play key role in enhancing transportation access for vulnerable groups throughout Punjab.

Metro in Lahore is indeed a major transport option for daily commuting as it provides reliable and efficient way for thousands of residents to travel across metropolis. The Metro plays crucial role in reducing traffic congestion, and it offers comfortable and cost-effective alternative to private vehicles.

This makes it especially valuable for daily commuters, including those who rely on public transport to get to work, school, or other daily activities.
