PESHAWAR  –  The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday granted transit bail to PTI leaders Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, and Zartaj Gul.

Justice Shakeel Ahmad of the Peshawar High Court presided over the hearing.

The court granted the PTI leaders transit bail and ordered them to appear before the relevant courts by October 10.

Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition Omar Ayub, former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Zartaj Gul had filed petitions in the Peshawar High Court for transit bail in a case registered in Islamabad.

The PTI leaders argued in their petition that a case was filed against Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, and other leaders for holding a rally in Islamabad.

The petition stated that cases were filed against the leaders for delaying the rally, and they expressed their intention to appear before the relevant courts. However, they feared arrest and sought transit bail to be able to present themselves before the court.

Meanwhile, Zartaj Gul, in her petition, argued that cases had been registered against her and other party leaders for holding a rally in Islamabad. The constitution allows every political party the right to hold peaceful rallies.

The petition further mentioned that cases were filed against PTI leaders for delaying the rally by two hours. PTI members of the National Assembly were arrested from within the Assembly’s jurisdiction, and Zartaj Gul also feared arrest. She requested transit bail so she could appear before the relevant court.

September 9 was an attack on democracy: Omar Ayub

Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, speaking to the media on this occasion, said that May 9 was a false flag operation, and September 9 was an attack on democracy. “There is no democracy in Pakistan; our parliamentary leaders are on the run, and multiple cases have been registered against me across the country.”

He further stated, “Who abducted people from Parliament? Was it some alien force? People were forcibly disappeared in a brazen manner, and this cannot happen in a democracy.”

We will go to any lengths to block the government’s bill: Asad Qaiser

National Assembly member Asad Qaiser said, “I have come to the Peshawar High Court for bail. We will try to reach the Assembly today. We will go to any lengths to block the bill the government is introducing, as it is extremely dangerous and aimed at benefiting one person.”

He added, “PTI faces no difficulties. In these circumstances, we must move forward. We want the supremacy of the constitution in the country. This is not how the country can be run. The situation regarding law and order and the economy is not good. The supremacy of the constitution and an independent judiciary must be ensured.”
